PRN On-Call Environmental Services Technician Norfolk Regional Center

About the role

The Norfolk Regional Center (NRC) is seeking an PRN On-Call Environmental Services Technician to assist with maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Rake and remove leaves, grass, and other debris from building entrances.
• Move, load, and unload materials, supplies, equipment, and furniture.
• Mix cleaning and chemical solutions following established procedures.
• Assist in training new employees on routine procedures and equipment.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, offices, common areas, living areas and other facility spaces.
• Laundering towels, bedding, washing clothes, mop heads, clothes, and rags according to accreditation or regulatory standards.
• Routine floor maintenance of waxing and buffing tile floors.
• Complete monthly bacterial reports according to accreditation or regulatory standards.
• Operate commercial cleaning equipment.
• Inventory, stock, and replenish maintenance and custodial supplies.

Requirements/Qualifications

• No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.
• One year of housekeeping experience preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices, equipment, supplies, and techniques.
• Basic office and computer skills, including email and computerized maintenance applications.
• Effective communication and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and reference materials.
• Safety and operational knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding to perform work above ground level.
