Role And Responsibilities
- Start IV's, perform blood draws.
- Safely administer nucleotides while following radiation safety protocols.
- Explain different imaging procedures to patients and be able to answer questions confidently regarding different cardiac procedures and protocols.
- Competency in operation of both SPECT and PET/CT camera.
- Competency in post processing for both SPECT and PET cardiac studies.
- Able to recognize signs and symptoms of adverse patient reactions during stress testing.
- Keep detailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical used and of the procedure performed.
- Abside by HIPAA compliant patient privacy standards of practice.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of different cardiac functions and disease processes pertaining to the imaging performed and other aspects of heart care.
- Complete daily, monthly, and annual quality control methods on both SPECT and PET/CT systems.
- Complete daily, monthly, and annual quality control in the hot lab while effectively maintaining organization of hot lab records.
- Become compliant with quality control and maintenance of Rubidium generator.
- Maintain current knowledge of the frequent advances, innovations, and developments in the field.
- Keep inventory of supplies and materials used and order supplies when necessary for the department.
- Assist with scheduling and confirming appointments related to Nuclear and PET imaging.
- Maintain and manage radioactive waste logs and biohazard logs in accordance with protocols and with the radioactive materials license standards.
- Place orders for nucleotides via nuclear pharmacy portal system.
- Be able to work in a team-based environment free of discrimination or personal biases.
- Willing to assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- An associate or bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology.
- A state license or certification to practice nuclear medicine.
- ARRT(N) CNMTCT trained and Certified preferred.
- Preferred Skills: Experience with cardiac nuclear studies, Able to stand for long periods of time, Background in blood draws/ IV catheterization techniques.
