PRN Medical Laboratory Technician

Role Overview: Per diem Medical/Clinical Lab Scientist responsible for performing accurate laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and serving as a departmental resource in a hospital laboratory setting. Key Responsibilities Conducts testing with precision, including startup, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation.Monitors and validates patient and QC results, participating in quality assurance and process improvements.Manages inventory, assists with financial data, and contributes to operational efficiencies.Supports department projects, trains staff, and participates in committees or special initiatives.Provides educational support to internal and external customers, demonstrating strong communication skills.Performs specimen collection, processing, and referral procedures while ensuring specimen integrity and correct identification. Qualifications & Skills MLS certification or equivalent (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).Associate degree in laboratory science or related experience meeting CLIA requirements.Competency in phlebotomy and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Ability to interpret testing results, ensure accuracy, and adhere to regulatory standards.Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Additional Qualities: Ability to assume lead responsibilities in absence of management, contribute to team development, and maintain compliance with accreditation and safety standards.
