Medical Laboratory Technician PRN
Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) utilizes skills and training to perform tests on patient specimens, evaluates test results, and reports/enters/verifies results in the Laboratory Information System. Duties include handling specimen processing, performing various types of laboratory tests, evaluating test results, maintaining quality control, troubleshooting instruments, and participating in performance improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from a NCCLS accredited Medical Technician program
- Hospital laboratory experience preferred
What You Will Do
You will handle specimen processing, pre-analytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity. You will perform various types of laboratory tests on patient specimens, evaluate test results, and report/enter/verify test results in the Laboratory Information System. You will perform and evaluate periodic quality control per policy and procedure. You will evaluate new and/or modified procedures, reagents, and instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator. You will troubleshoot all instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator. You will participate in hospital initiatives and department goals set by the Laboratory Director and Manager.
