PRN Hospital Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

About the role
As a Phlebotomist in Birmingham, AL, you will provide exceptional customer service, perform skilled specimen collections, and represent the company. You will also have opportunities for continuous growth within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
- Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, and other diagnostic needs.
- Perform accurate and timely data entry of patient information.
- Process billing information and collect payments when required.
- Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
- Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
- Provide superior customer service to all patients.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
- Process specimens efficiently and accurately.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 months of phlebotomy experience.
- In lieu of work experience, a Phlebotomy certification or completed training program from an accredited agency is required.
- Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Comfortable working under minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record, if applicable.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification or completed training program.
- 1 year or more of experience as a phlebotomist.
