PRN / As Needed Peer Support Specialist II - Days

About the role

The Peer Support Specialist II provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. The role assists in implementing and creating a recovery environment and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of every individual.

Responsibilities

• Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes, dreams, and the solutions they are seeking.
• Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
• Models hope, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained.
• Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
• Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose).
• Completes clinical documentation as required.
• Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations, laws, and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures.
• Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
• Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Availability to attend court hearings when listed as a witness on a petition.

Requirements

• Successful completion of Peer Employment Training, thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
• Two (2) years of full-time behavioral health experience.
• Additional training in peer-related topics.
• Experience in community navigation, resume writing, curriculum development, and family peer support.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools.
• Effective communication skills.
• Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years old (or 21+ in Arizona, 24+ in Louisiana).
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.
• Must be able to pass a seven-year background check, substance abuse testing, and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable).
• Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states.
• Must be able to pass education verification check.

Driving Requirements

• If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
• If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
• Proof of valid and unrestricted Driver's License (North Carolina).
• Must be able to clear the authorized driving component for Recovery Innovations and provide proof of own personal auto insurance with minimum coverage: $100,000 in bodily injury, $100,000 in property damage, or both.

Physical Demands

• May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses.
• May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.

Work Environment

• May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility.
• May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.
• Warmline over-the-phone Peer Support Specialists will work remotely and not be in an office or behavioral health facility.

Pay

$21.50 - $23.50/hour

Schedule

• 7:00am - 7:30pm (required to work two 12-hour shifts per month).
