Verrill is seeking an Associate to join our Private Clients & Fiduciary Services Group in our Greenwich, Connecticut office. Our Private Clients & Fiduciary Services Practice Group is among the most experienced in New England, representing a diverse client base including high-net-worth individuals, fiduciaries, and organizations in all aspects of trust and estate work.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with attorneys and professional advisors while providing practical, client-focused counsel and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. Candidates must be able to work a hybrid schedule with at least four (4) in-office days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and implementing sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, deeds, beneficiary designation forms, revocable trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Conducting legal research regarding complex procedural and substantive issues related to probate and estate planning.
  • Counseling clients regarding estate, gift, and transfer tax planning.
  • Advising fiduciaries on trust and estate administration matters.
  • Handling probate and trust administration matters from inception through closing.
  • Preparing and reviewing estate and gift tax returns.
  • Collaborating with financial advisors and other professional advisors.
  • Participating in business development and client relationship activities.
  • Contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Connecticut State Bar or eligibility to obtain admission within a reasonable amount of time.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and probate administration.

  • Advanced research and writing skills, including proficiency with legal research tools such as WestLaw.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience implementing and managing multiple projects.
  • Experience working as part of a team, independently, and with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, delegate effectively, and thrive in high-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related software.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $165,000 - $170,000. Final base salary will be determined by several factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, job-related qualifications, and other market factors.
