Private Client Services Tax Senior Associate
About the role
The Tax Services Group at Withum is comprised of tax specialists who ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and minimize or defer tax payments. They provide comprehensive tax strategies across international, US federal, state, and local regulations, including business, individual, state & local tax, R&D Tax Credit, and international and private client services.
Responsibilities
- Take a lead role on all aspects of tax engagements
- Supervise and mentor staff
- Build and maintain relationships with clients
- Prepare complex individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns
- Review mid-level complexity individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy
- Research and draft memoranda involving complex tax matters
- Identify tax planning opportunities
- Handle and resolve tax controversies
- Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines
- Provide supervision, training, and support to engagement staff
- Promote open communication with engagement partners and managers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Working towards CPA license, or CPA certification (preferred)
- Masters of Science in Taxation (plus)
- 3+ years of prior experience working in the tax department of a public accounting firm
- Excellent analytical and technical tax skills
- Exceptional client service and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast-paced, interactive, and results-driven team environment
- Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Benefits
Compensation for this position ranges from $82,500 – $95,000 for Columbia, MD. Additional benefits include a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
