Printing Manager

About the role
Directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Printing and Sheeting departments, providing leadership and supervision to subordinates and serving as the link between direct reports and middle/upper management. Aligns business operations and the Department to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Directs the printing and sheeting production of all items at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications in terms of quality and quantity.
- Develops, recommends, and implements operating policies and ensures the application of such policies.
- Coordinates and collaborates with all departments of the plant in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
- Manages employees by establishing performance goals, allocating resources, and assessing performance.
- Provides leadership directed at continuous improvement in safety, quality / customer satisfaction, and productivity.
- Provides leadership and direction to production management and employees to continuously improve quality, reduce waste and increase throughput.
- Assists and supports Plant and Operation Manager in all aspects.

Requirements
- Manufacturing experience required.
- 3-5 years relevant experience within the printing environment.
- Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and clamp trucks preferred.
- 3-5 years of leadership skills – must have the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.
- Excellent attendance, ability to work independently, and perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or equivalent experience in a converting facility is preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of roll stock cutting machines, printing presses, die cutting machines, and straight-line gluers is preferred.
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Mechanical/Computer/Office Equipment Skills: Proficiency in SAP, MS Office, and database programs; use of all general office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, telephone, etc.).
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Company-issued Fork Truck Operator’s License; Company-issued Clamp Truck Operator’s License.
Schedule
- General schedule is an 8-hour Monday-Friday assignment; occasional alternate schedules including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends may be required.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding, or by rail.
Physical Demands
- Standing occasionally, walking and sitting frequently for extended periods depending on job assignment.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
- Ability to climb, twist neck and back, and finger frequently (34-66% of the time).
- Ability to balance, stoop, bend, squat, twist, handle, feel, reach above shoulder and at or below shoulder, reach over 18”, reach to the floor, kneel, and drive occasionally (1-33% of the time).
- Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally (1-33% of the time).
- Use of both feet occasionally for walking, climbing stairs, and possibly ladders.
- Use of both hands for simple grasping (frequently) and pushing/pulling (occasionally) for purposes such as reviewing production reports, holding a clipboard, and inspecting equipment.
- Continuous ability to read, write, hear, see, speak, and have agility.
- Reading computer screens or other electronic devices.
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noises.
- Visual color discrimination, including matching or detecting differences between colors and shades.
- PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut-resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net.

Pay
Pay Range: $115,700.00 - $154,300.00
