Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Designer (5+ years experience)

Coda Octopus Engineering Inc., a division of Coda Octopus Group, is a certified small business creating rugged electronics, software, and embedded computing solutions for military and commercial customers. Our small team works on programs spanning sustainment of legacy military electronics to new development using state-of-the-art technologies.

About the role

In this role, you will design, simulate, build, test, and troubleshoot digital, analog, power electronics, and mixed-signal electronic circuitry and PCBAs for new and existing rugged computer products and underwater sonar systems. This role may also require work estimations for proposals.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical refreshes on existing rugged computers and electronics.
• Design, build, and troubleshoot electronic circuits in a lab environment, including digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power electronics.
• Create and modify schematics and board designs in Altium.
• Design, develop, and implement testing methods, software, and equipment.
• Support creation of system specs, datasheets, and manuals.
• Provide engineering support and guidance for new and existing product lines.
• Work closely with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure efficient production.
• Enjoy working in a small company setting where you may wear multiple hats.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years in the development of rugged electronics, PCBs, and PCBAs.
• Schematic and board tools experience, preferably Altium.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Thorough understanding of modern PC technology, peripherals, and buses.
• Extensive hands-on lab experience: building PCBAs and cables, system bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting to the component level.
• Experience with a wide variety of electronics test equipment.
• Ability to design and build test jigs and test fixtures.
• Ready to transition designs from development into production and support.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a US security clearance.
