About the role

This role is responsible for providing color management services, support, and consultation to the graphics center and all printing facilities. This support ranges from designing, analyzing and attending production print and print trials to providing guidance and training on process improvements related to print quality and digital graphics color management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop press curves and all color profiles
  • Responsible for developing the project plan and coordinating / attend press runs for all print trials
  • Develop test forms/files to be used in optimizations, fingerprints, characterizations and verifications
  • Analyze samples provided by manufacturing and give guidance on how to resolve the issue
  • Responsible for enterprise spot color libraries and the workflow associated with them
  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis using colorimetric and print quality data and information
  • Present trial results to various teams in a logical and articulate manner to enable a firm understanding of trial objectives and outcomes
  • Provide direct support for press approvals to ensure customer expectations are met on new item print runs or as needed on otherwise challenging print designs
  • Work with vendors and customers to educate and communicate Amcor color management policies, procedures, and standards
  • Provide constructive guidance and input in solving technical print challenges
  • As part of a team, works to improve overall print quality through various projects and initiatives
  • Assist in the overall development and delivery of training related to printing and color management as needed throughout the organization
  • Serve as a mentor

Requirements

  • A high level of understanding of the digital file to print workflow and processes including image carrier manufacturing across print disciplines
  • Hands-on knowledge in the use and deployment of common color management hardware and software to include spectrophotometers, RIP's, QC tools
  • Must have an understanding of common Problem Solving tools such as: Statistical Analysis, DOE, Pareto charts and Histograms
  • Strong proficiency in industry color management standards and processes such as: ISO, GRACoL, SWOP,and G7
  • Experience in common package printing disciplines such as: flexography, rotogravure, offset and digital
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to make quick and appropriate decisions
  • Strong customer service focus, collaboration, leadership and influencing

Qualifications

  • An Associates degree or its equivalency with an emphasis on graphic arts, or printing would satisfy the formal requirements for this position (preferred not required)
  • 5+ years experience in industry preferably in Graphics, Prepress or Press Room is preferred
  • Approximately 30-35% travel
