Print Operator II

About the role

The Operator position at Novolex is responsible for operating a six or eight color dry offset Van Dam press, performing size changes and setups, and ensuring that all products meet customer and WNA's expectations.

Responsibilities

• Run the dry offset presses to the established production speeds and quality standards running at or above 105% efficiency.
• Maintain quality of print throughout production runs, ensuring that print matches signed sample at all times.
• Keep scrap at or below 2.0%.
• Read and fully understand the ECS and shop orders, making sure everything (packaging, labels, etc.) is correct on final product that goes out the door.
• Oversee work crew consisting of packers and loaders.
• Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repairs on presses if needed.
• Load or pack a press during an 8 or 12-hour shift, monitoring inks and quality simultaneously.
• Work shift will fall into the 24/5 or 24/7 operations of the plant. Weekend work should be expected.
• Accept responsibility and be held accountable for product sent out the door.
• Be a team player willing to help others.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Some printing and mechanical experience desired.
• Active learning and listening skills with some troubleshooting and mechanical skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand the ECS and shop orders.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to operate machinery and perform manual labor.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on presses.
• Knowledge of printing processes and equipment.
