About the role

The role involves providing IT systems administration in a mixed Microsoft Windows, VMWare, and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. It includes daily checks in multiple data centers, understanding and managing Windows Server internals and Linux fundamentals, and working with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows, VMWare and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Perform daily checks in multiple data centers.
  • Understand and manage Windows Server internals and Linux fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including the integration of hardware, operating systems (OS), and program-specific software.
  • Manage data backup and recovery processes.
  • Install and configure software applications requested by end-users.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to ensure security requirements are met.
  • Document and train on advanced IT processes and procedures.
  • Must obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance and CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification within 6 months of start date.
  • Support systems that operate 24x7 and may require work beyond standard hours.
  • Occasionally travel to other US domestic locations, up to 10% per year.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory, VMware, Administration, backup, and recovery.

Qualifications

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification).
  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
  • Experience with using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience with VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, MECM, and/or Exchange.
  • Experience with AIX Operating System.
  • Scripting Experience.
