About the Role
The Principal of the Virtual Landmark Academy shall be responsible for the operation of the school within the framework of the existing policies of Summit Management Consulting.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate the Academy's goals to the teaching and building staff
- Serve as an instructional leader
- Provide ongoing professional development for staff and demonstrate a commitment to sound research-based instructional practices
- Lead the improvement of student achievement by utilizing the components of the Summit Management Consulting model
- Lead ongoing instruction for all staff members about the components of the Summit Management Consulting model
- Monitor lesson plans to ensure that they reflect the district pacing calendars
- Plan and facilitate professional development to increase staff knowledge about effective instruction
- Regularly observe teachers, providing specific feedback about their performance, and give suggestions for continuous improvement
- Foster a positive school climate by assessing, planning, and communicating with the school community
- Manage personnel effectively through appropriate delegation, planning and evaluation
- Foster an environment where staff and faculty work cooperatively together
- Manage monetary items, staff projections and staff allocations in compliance with district policies
- Promote an environment where Administrator and staff are accessible
- Promote a positive tone for collaborative school/community relations by articulating the mission, seeking community support, and fostering rapport while demonstrating an awareness of cultural activities
- Provide leadership in professional growth through active participation, professional conduct and dissemination of ideas that foster mutual respect between the District and the larger community
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position involves direct supervision of the Virtual Landmark Academy staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required with appropriate experience in a leadership role, master's degree preferred
- Appropriate teaching certification and administrator certification required
