Lead the development and execution of user experience strategies by conducting comprehensive research, user interviews, and usability testing to enhance interaction design. Drive innovation through prototyping, visual design, and iterative testing while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency. Mentor team members and ensure adherence to best practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of user-centered design processes.

Our team within Walmart Marketplace is committed to empowering third-party sellers by designing seamless, end-to-end experiences. We simplify complex workflows and create intuitive tools that support sellers from onboarding through fulfillment and performance insights. By enhancing the seller journey, we enable business growth and expand product selection for customers. Collaborating across functions, we apply user-centered design principles, prototyping, and usability testing to deliver impactful solutions. Our work drives a dynamic marketplace that benefits sellers and customers alike, fostering continuous improvement and innovation in the online retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead user experience strategy by conducting user interviews, surveys, and site visits to gather insights and identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Develop detailed user journey maps, storyboards, and interaction designs to improve product usability and engagement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to align UX solutions with business goals and customer needs.
  • Design and prototype scalable UI/UX systems, ensuring consistency with design principles and native platform guidelines.
  • Plan and execute usability testing, analyze results, and iterate designs to optimize user satisfaction and performance.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering continuous learning and adherence to best practices.

Requirements

  • Product & strategic thinking — Connects customer needs, business goals, and product strategy; solves the right problems rather than just executing requirements.
  • Complexity & systems thinking — Makes ambiguous, complex problems understandable and creates solutions that work across journeys, products, and systems.
  • Leadership & influence — Shapes direction beyond their own work, influences cross-functional partners, raises the quality of others, and drives alignment without relying on authority.
  • Extensive expertise in user experience strategies, including user interviews, journey mapping, and contextual inquiries to enhance interaction design.
  • Proven ability to conduct and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research, driving actionable insights and continuous improvement.
  • Strong skills in prototyping, usability testing, and developing scalable UI/UX design systems aligned with native mobile conventions.
  • Experience managing cross-functional partnerships and stakeholder engagement to align design solutions with business goals.
  • Exceptional communication skills to influence teams and present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Commitment to driving customer-centric solutions through process optimization and data-informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design certification (e.g., IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate).
  • Experience driving product development in a user experience area.
  • Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area.
  • Related industry experience (e.g., retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare).
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience supporting an inclusive culture.
  • Masters: Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Business, Cognitive Science, or Computer Science.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $220,000. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.

Schedule

We are making a permanent transition to virtual work for most of our team. In-person collaboration will occur at a regular cadence and with purpose.
