About the Role

Reporting to the Ultrasound Supervisor, the incumbent will perform the full range of non-invasive vascular exams, vascular ultrasound, and may perform general ultrasound when needed. This includes M-mode, 2-dimensional, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler. The technologist will recognize and describe abnormal findings, follow protocols, and tailor the procedure to provide a comprehensive exam. Exams will be performed on adults and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and position patients, adjust equipment to best demonstrate area of interest, and operate various stationary and portable equipment and imaging systems.
• Perform exams including NICU, vascular surgery, elastography, penile Doppler, breast imaging, foam therapy, venous reflux exams, dialysis access, arterial upper and lower extremity, carotid Doppler studies, and TIPPS.
• Rotate to other areas of the medical center as needed.
• Work hours that include holiday rotation.
• Assist in the training of technologists, fellows, and students as assigned.
• Responsible for statistics and record keeping.
• Maintain equipment and log all reported repairs.
• Work independently and provide written impressions for the radiologist and vascular surgeons.
• Display professional conduct at all times in interactions with staff members, patients, and visitors.

Requirements

• Signed off on Vascular and TCD by a UCI designated official. If external, must be signed off within 90 days of hire.
• Registered Vascular Technologist Certification (RVT).
• Must possess A.R.D.M.S. certification.
• Must perform both inpatient and outpatient exams, and all other ultrasound exams as needed.
• Experience with pediatric ultrasound, including neonatal heads.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Current BLS certification.
• Competency in exams such as NICU, vascular surgery, elastography, penile Doppler, breast imaging, foam therapy, venous reflux exams, dialysis access, arterial upper and lower extremity, carotid Doppler studies, and TIPPS.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• 5 years of experience as a vascular technologist in a hospital or dedicated lab and two years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited vascular or ultrasound school.
• A.R.D.M.S. in at least two specialties.
