About the role

Reporting to the Ultrasound Supervisor, the incumbent will perform the full range of non-invasive vascular exams, vascular ultrasound, and may perform general ultrasound when needed. This includes M-mode, 2-dimensional, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler. The technologist will recognize and describe abnormal findings, follow protocols, and tailor procedures to provide comprehensive exams for adults and pediatric patients. Responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, adjusting equipment, operating stationary and portable imaging systems, and rotating to other areas of the medical center as needed. Hours will include holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-invasive vascular exams, vascular ultrasound, and general ultrasound as needed
• Conduct M-mode, 2-dimensional, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler studies
• Recognize and describe abnormal findings, follow protocols, and tailor exams for comprehensive results
• Perform exams on adults and pediatric patients, including neonatal heads
• Prepare and position patients, adjust equipment, and operate imaging systems
• Rotate to other areas of the medical center as required
• Assist in training technologists, fellows, and students
• Maintain statistics, records, equipment logs, and report repairs
• Provide written impressions for radiologists and vascular surgeons
• Display professional conduct in interactions with staff, patients, and visitors

Requirements

• Signed off on Vascular and TCD by a UCI designated official (if external, must be signed off within 90 days of hire)
• Registered Vascular Technologist Certification (RVT)
• A.R.D.M.S. certification
• Ability to perform both inpatient and outpatient exams, and all other ultrasound exams as needed
• Experience with pediatric ultrasound, including neonatal heads
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Current BLS certification
• Competency in the following exams: NICU, Vascular surgery, Elastography, Penile Doppler, Breast imaging, Foam Therapy, Venous reflux exams, dialysis access, arterial upper and lower extremity, carotid Doppler studies, and TIPPS
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• 5 years of experience as a vascular technologist in a hospital or dedicated lab and two years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited vascular or ultrasound school
• A.R.D.M.S. certification in at least two specialties
