Principal Threat Researcher

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Threat Researcher to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will drive advanced security research focused on emerging adversary techniques and the development of actionable detections. The Principal Threat Researcher will analyze complex technical attack components, create proofs of concept, and partner closely with detection engineering and threat hunting teams to strengthen defensive capabilities. This position requires strong technical depth, clear communication, and the ability to turn research into practical outcomes for the broader security organization. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $171,500 – $245,000 annually Responsibilities Scope and refine research initiatives to analyze emerging attack techniques Deeply analyze technical components and detection optics of specific threats Engineer automated attack code and develop proofs of concept for new detections Collaborate with detection engineers and threat hunters to refine deliverables Document and present research findings in an accessible manner Qualifications 12+ years of experience in security research with actionable outcomes Extensive expertise in at least one operating system and commercial EDR platforms Experience with cloud service providers and cloud-based detection platforms Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and one compiled language (e.g., C, C++, Rust, Go) Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in security Benefits Various health plans Time off plans for vacation and sick time Parental leave options Retirement options Education reimbursement In-office perks, and more!
