Principal Systems Storage Administrator
About the role
We are seeking a Principal Storage Administrator with a focus on Dell and HP Storage Administration. In this role, you will work on a team supporting program initiatives in secure, isolated computing environments. While this is an individual contributor role, collaboration and technical expertise will be essential to strengthen the consistency and standardization of IT infrastructure services, achieving operational excellence and program success.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution—from strategic capital investments and industrial operations to an efficient supply chain, state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations, and top-notch facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Interface with internal customers, security, and management teams to maintain production systems and resolve issues with services and physical systems.
- Install, maintain, and support multiple types of attached storage arrays such as Dell Isilon, Dell Compellent, HP Nimble, and Dell PowerStore.
- Support VDI environments and engineering-focused teams.
- Execute troubleshooting to address storage stability both reactively and proactively via security updates and hardware firmware.
- Maintain a secure storage environment, including adherence to backup schedules, patching, virus updates, and regularly scheduled backups via tape or array snapshots.
- Cable and configure multiple types of storage arrays in a data center setting.
- Perform maintenance inside scheduled maintenance windows, occasionally requiring after-hours support.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours calls.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 6 or more years of related experience. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret security clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- Excellent verbal and written documentation skills, organization skills, and the ability to interact cross-functionally with team members.
- Strong organization and project management/coordination skills.
- Experience in monitoring, planning, configuring, and maintaining Dell and HP storage capacity and backups.
- Knowledge of Intel-based server class and workstation hardware.
- Knowledge of VMware virtualization and LUN management.
- Experience installing, maintaining, and supporting a multi-vendor enterprise storage environment.
- Experience with Fibre Channel SAN zoning and LUN provisioning.
- Experience with monitoring storage performance and capacity.
- Experience with storage migrations, upgrades, and technology refresh projects.
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions.
- Experience performing restores (file-level, VM-level, database-level) as requested.
- DoD 8570 compliance.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Dell OpenManage server control.
- Experience with Brocade or Cisco Storage Fabric hardware for configuration and zoning.
- Experience with SCCM and WSUS infrastructure for patch management and application deployments.
- Experience with security products such as Trelix and RSA.
- Experience with enterprise application installations from project start to execution.
Schedule
This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $118,095 - $200,762. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
