About the Role
The Multi-Domain Assured Navigation & Timing Applications (MANTA) group within the Mission Critical Products organization is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Global Positioning System (GPS)-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Service (GPNTS) program. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and shape innovative solutions for the US Navy customer in a dynamic Maritime PNT environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop verifiable system-level requirements.
- Create and execute test plans, verification, and acceptance test procedures.
- Develop scripts and configure/test equipment (e.g., GPS simulators) to verify system requirements and ensure compliance.
- Manage updates and timely release of CDRLs/SDRLs to improve documentation cycle time and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to technical interchange meetings and design reviews (TRR, PDR, CDR).
- Provide verbal and written status updates on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience in Agile development and tools such as JIRA/Confluence.
- Experience with DOORS NG.
- Familiarity with EVMS, ETCs, and ECPs.
- Experience in system, software, and hardware requirements management, traceability, and allocation.
- Experience in RF signal processing.
- Ability to visualize system functionality, create block diagrams, and analyze system performance via customer requirements specifications.
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret) required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following technical domains: RF/IR signal processing, electronics, navigation (GPS or Inertial), modeling and simulation (e.g., 6-DOF), aerodynamics, missile-related mechanical engineering (flight control systems, warheads, missile structures, seeker gimbals, RF/IR seeker subsystems).
- Understanding of guidance and navigation systems, with relevant experience in GPS Receiver system design, integration, test, verification, and validation.
- Experience with test equipment/tools, technical reviews, and production readiness.
- Familiarity with subsystem or systems architecting and system-of-systems definition.
- Familiarity with MOSA/SOSA/VITA/FACE standards.
- Ability to write clear engineering documentation.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $118,300 – $224,900 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
