About the role
Arcadis is seeking a Part-time 32 hours/week Principal Structural Engineer to join our Resilience Water Team in Houston, Texas. The role involves providing geographical leadership for the structural engineering team, managing projects, and leading design and construction efforts for water/wastewater infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provide geographical leadership for the structural engineering team.
- Lead water/wastewater design engineering and construction projects.
- Manage junior and mid-level structural engineering staff.
- Organize and conduct structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work.
- Develop calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
- Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and sub-contractors.
- Manage the production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates for projects.
- Function as an Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects.
- Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, general planning purposes, or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- 15 years of structural engineering experience in Water/Wastewater.
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis).
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural or Civil/Structural.
Key Attributes
- Strong structural analysis and design skills, proficient in tools like STAAD Pro and other structural software applications.
- Excellent technical writing and editing abilities to communicate complex engineering concepts and project requirements.
- Experience in preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/REVIT software.
- Familiarity with building codes and standards, including IBC, ACI, and others relevant to the industry.
- Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering (preferred).
- At least 20 years of practical involvement in relevant projects (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering across a range of states (preferred).
- Structural Engineer (SE) License and NCEES Record featuring a mention of MLSE (Multi-Lateral Structural Engineer) (plus).
- Successfully completed the NCEES 16-Hour structural exam (preferred).
- Strong proficiency in MATHCAD (preferred).

Pay
The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $185,000/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
