Principal Specialist-Contracts
Job Description
The Principal Specialist – Contracts & Pricing is responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of proposals and contracts, ensuring compliance with government regulations, prime contract requirements, and company policies.
- Manages the preparation, review, and submission of proposals.
- Conduct detailed reviews of U.S. Government and Prime Contractor solicitations to ensure company compliance, developing proposal costing, and managing the interface with customers and government counterparts.
- Led the proposal development process from initial assignment through contract award.
- Covers coordination with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, legal, program management) to gather necessary information, meet deadlines, develop competitive bids, and follow up with the sales team to close opportunities.
- Manages subcontractor relationships under assigned contracts.
- Ensures all procurement actions conform to directives, policies, and regulations (e.g., FAR/DFAR).
- Analyzes existing subcontracts for risks, conflicts, and ambiguities.
- Manages the performance of subcontractor partners to support technical, schedule, quality, and financial objectives.
- Prepares and issues responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Manages change orders.
- Facilitates critical dialogue between subcontractors and internal teams.
- Contributes to risk management by identifying opportunities and creating mitigation plans.
- Participates in subcontract management reviews, technical meetings, and audits.
- Develops Pricing for standard, modified standard, and custom power conversion products.
- Quotes and follows up on standard product inquiries from customers and sales team.
- May be asked to perform other duties not outlined in this description.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, engineering, or a technical field. 6-9 years’ experience in the US defense/aerospace industry.
- Strong track record in contracting, procurement, program, or project management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and proposal management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex deliverables simultaneously.
Preferred Skills: Ability to work independently. Strong negotiator. Good customer management skills. Detail oriented.
Additional Notes: Position reports directly to the site business unit manager. U.S. Export Controls Requirements: This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).
