About the role
This is not a traditional project management role. We are seeking a Principal Project Manager who will take a central role in leading, growing, and evolving our presence in the Oregon and SW Washington region.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with current leadership to run and scale the Oregon and SW Washington Business
- Lead and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary team
- Build a strong internal culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and growth
- Step in as a visible leader internally and externally, with accelerated progression toward office leadership
- Build and expand senior-level client relationships, particularly across the Pacific Northwest
- Lead business development and strategic pursuits, including major opportunities with regional transport, water and energy agencies
- Position Mott MacDonald as a trusted partner across multiple sectors
- Identify and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities into wins
- Provide executive-level oversight and leadership on key projects and priority pursuits
- Ensure delivery of complex infrastructure projects on time, on budget, and at high quality
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, bringing strategic insight beyond delivery
- Work across a diverse portfolio including transportation, infrastructure, buildings, energy, and water
- Bring a connected, cross-sector approach to solving client challenges and creating growth opportunities
Requirements
- A proven market-facing leader with a strong presence in the Oregon / Pacific Northwest
- Experience operating at a Principal / Director level, balancing leadership, delivery, and growth
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon and Washington
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline required (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in infrastructure project delivery, leadership, and business development
- Demonstrated success in:
- Growing client relationships and winning work
- Leading major infrastructure projects or programs
- Managing and developing high-performing teams
- Using various systems and being ISO compliant
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of regional market dynamics, ideally with exposure to major transit, water, energy and public sector agencies
- Ability to operate as both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor
- A multisector mindset, with experience spanning more than one infrastructure domain strongly preferred

- Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills
- The expected salary range for this position is $185,000 - $226,000
