Principal Program Manager
Renesas’ High Performance Compute (HPC) team is seeking an experienced Program Manager to join the Program Management Office. The HPC PMO oversees the NPI development process, IP process, and third-party management process, and partners with stakeholders to drive change initiatives and continuous improvement across HPC and the wider Renesas organization. The team also provides a consolidated view of execution, acting as a central conduit for escalation and resolution of cross-portfolio issues.
About the role
This role has a broad and varied remit, with key focus areas supporting the HPC SVP and HPC Chief of Staff. Responsibilities include driving continuous improvement initiatives, change management, handling critical escalation topics, business process development, and supporting senior stakeholders in decision-making. The position requires execution on tight timelines, budget responsibility, escalation path ownership, progress monitoring and reporting, performance comparison against goals (technical and commercial), and overall program ownership and accountability. Leading cross-functional teams, including senior stakeholders, and communicating with internal executive leadership is expected. The HPC team is globally distributed, with locations in Japan, India, Vietnam, and the United States.
Responsibilities
- Understand expected outcomes and timelines, synthesize and communicate goals to team and stakeholders to ensure alignment on approach and successful output.
- Assume complete responsibility for assigned projects with strong exposure to executive leadership from Renesas and key partners.
- Establish, drive, and maintain the overall program plan, including regular program reporting to both internal and external teams.
- Define milestones and track progress regularly. Highlight issues and build options for mitigation/resolution. Ensure risk analysis is complete and maintained, including options and trigger dates.
- Organize and hold regular team meetings to drive progress. Create regular data-driven updates for internal and external consumers.
- Lead cross-functional teams across multiple locations to deliver the program.
- Maintain budgets and highlight changes against the plan.
- Suggest and deliver process improvements in conjunction with senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience managing large-scale, multi-disciplined global programs within the semiconductor or high-tech sector.
- Deep understanding of the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including technical milestones, risk assessment, and commercial gate reviews.
- Commitment to continual improvement in all aspects of work, including policies and methodology.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams across diverse geographies and navigating complex cultural and time-zone dynamics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address the root cause of issues.
- Ability to anticipate issues and assign the right owners to address them proactively.
- Tenacity in ensuring end-to-end execution through proactive ownership and persistence.

Pay
Expected annual pay range for this position is $200K–$260K, with eligibility for bonus opportunities. Final offer amount will depend on geographic location, applicable experience, and candidate skillset.
