Principal Product Designer (Healthcare & Life Sciences)

Art & Creative$170k–$210k/yrFull-time

About the role

You will own the experience for our Healthcare and Life Sciences (HLS) vertical, partnering with a PM who owns the roadmap. This is not a traditional UX or UI role. A typical problem looks like agentic case review, where an AI evaluates a claim against policy and a person confirms or overrides the decision. You design how that works within our users’ context.

You report to the Senior Director of Design for Vertical Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the experience for the HLS vertical, collaborating with a Product Manager to define the roadmap.
  • Design the user experience for agentic case review, ensuring it aligns with regulatory standards and user needs.
  • Work closely with engineers to translate designs into functional prototypes using Claude Code.
  • Ensure the experience meets a consumer-grade standard, bringing intuitive design to a high-stakes domain.
  • Build the experience from concept to implementation, iterating based on feedback and testing.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of product design experience, preferably in a regulated industry such as healthcare or financial services.
  • A strong instinct for user needs and the ability to identify and address gaps early in the design process.
  • A consumer-grade mindset, understanding what makes software truly intuitive and applying that to complex, regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend development tools and technologies, including Claude Code, GitHub, Figma, and Claude.ai.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work on a small team, wearing multiple hats as needed.

Qualifications

  • Excellent design and experience thinking skills.
  • Experience designing for AI or agentic products, particularly those involving human oversight, trust, or governance.
  • Experience on a small team where you wear multiple hats and take ownership of various aspects of a project.

Skills

  • Strong design and user experience skills.
  • Experience with Claude Code and other modern frontend development tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and their impact on design.
