Principal Performance Engineer

About the role

Fidelity Stock Transfer (FST) in Fidelity Labs is seeking a Principal Performance Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role involves building the technology and architecture of world-class end-to-end systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain services using Spring Boot
• Design and execute performance/load tests
• Debug and profile production-quality code
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and test automation
• Test cloud-native applications (containers, microservices)
• Improve observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing)
• Collaborate with design decisions based on performance insights

Requirements

• Strong Java development experience
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and distributed systems
• Experience with k6, Gatling, JMeter, or similar performance testing tools
• Familiarity with Node.js and frontend technologies (Angular, React)
• Experience testing cloud-native applications
• Knowledge of observability tools
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Pay

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 annually.

Schedule

The role is currently based in an onsite setting, but the company is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles.
