We are seeking a motivated and experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join a small, diverse team providing end-to-end software, systems, and network engineering services for Integrated Discovery Operations (IDO). You will lead, evolve, and maintain a dynamic, modern DevOps architecture—often built on open-source technology—to support software developers, phased system upgrades, compliance, and mission-critical improvements. The goal is to enhance availability, reliability, and performance while maintaining a strong security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and support operations and maintenance (O&M) activities for a large enclave comprising server architecture, virtual machines, managed switches, NAS, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Develop and execute strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture with minimal impact.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies or equipment into Agency standard solutions.
  • Provide user-level support, troubleshooting network, computer, and virtual system issues for system-savvy developers and analysts.
  • Maintain enclave documentation (network diagrams, system names, IP addresses, barcodes) and provide monthly activity reports, including system outages.
  • Administer networks, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices; configure routing protocols; troubleshoot multi-hop connectivity, throughput, and latency; and set up firewalls.
  • Ensure secure infrastructure, vulnerability corrections, data security, compliance, backups, and recovery.
  • Maintain SSPs, STE/STN requirements via RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging, patching, IAVMs, McAfee, and UAM.
  • Deploy and maintain nginx, system monitoring platforms (OpenVAS, Prometheus, Grafana), SELinux, and FIPS-compliant systems.
  • Work with tools such as LatteArt/Biscotti, Netseer, and SEAR logging.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI Poly security clearance.
  • Minimum experience:
    • Doctoral degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or
    • Master’s degree plus 9 years of relevant experience, or
    • Bachelor’s degree plus 11 years of relevant experience, or
    • Associate’s degree plus 13 years of relevant experience, or
    • 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in a computer-related field plus 10 years of relevant experience, or
    • High School diploma/GED plus 15 years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Network administration (routing protocols, firewalls, multi-hop connectivity, throughput, latency).
  • Secure infrastructure management, vulnerability remediation, compliance, and backup/recovery.
  • Experience with nginx, OpenVAS, Prometheus, Grafana, SELinux, and FIPS.
  • Familiarity with LatteArt/Biscotti, Netseer, SEAR logging, RMF, IAVMs, McAfee, and UAM.
  • Preferred: Docker, MongoDB, Elastic Search, Ansible, GitLab, RedHat Satellite, and software-defined networks.

Pay

$180,000–$250,000 per year.
