About the role
To carry out the mission RMA - Texas by directing and managing the instructional program and supervising general operations for the assigned school site. To provide leadership which will result in an instructional program that meets the needs of all students while operating at a high academic level.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the blended instructional program by reviewing teacher lesson plans, observing classroom instruction on a weekly basis, conferencing with staff, and carefully analyzing assessment data related to student academic performance.
- Provide educational leadership focused on improving student performance and program effectiveness.
- Work closely with Central Office Directors and staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the blended curriculum on a systematic basis.
- Ensure implementation of high performance program offerings that maximize student opportunities.
- Implement and monitor utilization of Blended Learning and technology to improve student, staff, and administrative productivity.
- Implement District curriculum/instruction staff development in a timely and effective manner.
- Schedule and administer local ARD, LPAC and 504 committee meetings/hearings, providing notice to parents as required by law.
- Schedule Instructional Assistants and Special Education teachers according to ARD requirements.
- Monitor special education data submissions (including weekly review of teacher activity in the RMA special education software system) by teachers and ensure the confidentiality and security of all special education records.
- Secure and insure accuracy and timely updates of student cumulative files.
- Expedite the process of gathering TREX requests within tight timelines.
- Support and advance the RMA mission with teachers in a way that increases student success within the approved curriculum and staff development process.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with the RMA Central Office and work closely with staff to develop teamwork approach for increased efficiency and to insure compliance in all areas.
- Effectively work with Human Resources to maintain approved staff levels by recruiting, selecting, compensating, orienting, training, and managing employees in compliance with state, federal, and district EEO and Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Manage the use of the school site; supervise the maintenance of the site to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment which may also include adherence to transportation and lunch program guidelines as warranted by local and state authorized agencies.
- Develop and maintain a physical security plan, including key control, emergency evacuations and medical emergencies.
- Host, attend, and ensure proper, accurate minutes of any site Advisory Board meetings.
- Ensure timely and accurate notification to parents of all school board meetings.
- Promote a positive image of the school and reinforce that image by creating opportunities for parents and community members to visit the school as well as participating in volunteer work.
- Demonstrate an awareness of the community/school needs while articulating and seeking community support for the school's mission within that community.
- Make regular contact with a variety of community groups including the local juvenile probation department, Department of Human Services, high school superintendents, principals and counselors to advance the RMA effort to be a resource for the cities where RMA campuses are located.
- Engage in activities to improve leadership skills, utilize information and insights gained in professional development programs, and keep abreast of educational practices to identify and share ideas that will assist in providing your staff and students with appropriate and meaningful experiences.
- Participate openly with staff, students and the community to seek suggestions which will assist in a continuing program of self-improvement.
- Demonstrate professionalism and concern and respect for the dignity and human worth of staff, students, community members, and people in general.
- Comply with and demand compliance from staff of all applicable state and federal statutes, local board policies and administrative guidelines, and all appropriate code of ethics.
Qualifications/Experience Requirements
- A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A strong major in education, administration or curriculum/instruction with a working knowledge of academic and administrative use of computers.
- A valid state administrator's certification preferred.
- A combination of at least ten (10) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher and as a supervisor.
- A proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and management ability.
