Principal HSE Project Engineer (Onsite)

About the Role

The Hot Section Engineering team at Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Project Engineer to join the F135 Exhaust team. In this role, you will have part-level ownership on a Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) and will plan and execute assigned tasks to ensure the CIPT achieves overall component goals. This position involves direct interfacing with engineering management, program management, suppliers, and government customers. You will collaborate with a team to meet requirements and achieve goals while demonstrating technical proficiency, effective communication, and a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and execute within an Agile Framework, facilitating planning, demos, and retrospective reviews.
• Identify and address project problems, recommending resolutions to ensure successful project completion.
• Facilitate project tasks with various functional organizations to align with overall project objectives.
• Prepare and present status and technical content to HSE Leadership, CIPT, Pratt & Whitney Upper Management, and customers.
• Initiate and manage hardware procurement and industrial efforts as the engineering technical contact.
• Serve as a Control Accounts Manager (CAM), responsible for schedule and budget for various tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years of engineering experience OR an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship (required for program access).
• 10% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in program/project management tools (e.g., SAP, Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Teamcenter, Confluence, Jira).
• Completed CAM Training or CAM certification.
• Strong communication abilities, including clear technical writing and effective engineering presentations.
• Experience providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range reflects all experience levels, and RTX considers factors such as role, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
