Principal Faculty (Physician Assistant Program)

About the Role

Teach as assigned by the Academic Director, including remediation of PA students. This position operates under the general direction of the Program Director and the direct supervision of the Academic Director.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and revise the program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies
• Select applicants for admissions to the PA Program
• Provide student instruction and evaluate student performance
• Offer academic counseling and remedial instruction to students
• Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the PA Program curriculum
• Evaluate the PA Program
• Participate in assigned committee meetings
• Ensure and maintain the confidentiality of student information
• Perform related accountabilities and responsibilities as required or directed

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited PA Program
• Possess a graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies or comparable degree
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
• NCCPA certified with appropriate clinical practice experience
• Hold a current PA license in Tennessee or be eligible for licensure
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Abilities in planning and organization
• Solid work ethic and a positive attitude
• Resourcefulness and computer literacy
• Some travel is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience educating PA students either as a clinical preceptor or as a faculty member

Physical Requirements

• Light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on a frequent basis (up to 50% of time) or continuous walking
• Moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time)
• Heavy physical exertion (over 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job)

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed under basically normal working conditions in a standard office and classroom environment.
