Principal Faculty in Physician Associate Studies

This position is a 12-month, consecutive, non-tenured faculty appointment in the Physician Associate Program.
The Physician Associate Program faculty member serves at the direction of the Program Director. They will serve in a joint role, with responsibilities spanning the academic program's didactic and clinical phases.
Areas Of Responsibility
Serve as a Physician Associate Education Committee member to facilitate high-quality education through curriculum development and continuous self-assessment and improvement processes.
Develop, review, and revise as necessary the program mission statement, goals, and competencies.
Mentor, instruct, and evaluate students within areas of expertise and interest.
Participate in the program's admissions process and the Academic Affairs and Promotions Committee.
Attend faculty meetings of the Department and Division.
Participate in Student Class Activities.
Attend lectures and provide peer feedback and evaluation.
Evaluate student performance.
Assure the availability of remedial instruction.
Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor to PA students.
Advise potential students on preparing their applications to the program.
Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum.
Serve as course director, teach in the classroom, and participate in course assignments in a setting promoting team teaching.
Work in concert with other faculty to develop appropriate "mini-courses" to address the special instructional needs of the PA Program.
Develop and maintain student learning objectives and evaluation instruments for traditional, synchronous, and asynchronous web courses.
Participate in lab sessions and simulations.
Participate in clinical quality improvement and clinical site visits/evaluation.
Evaluate the program.
Establish a personal program of scholarly activity.
Maintain an active role in state and national organizations supporting the program's educational mission.
Represent the Department and Division in intramural and extramural community activities.
Clinical Practice
Provide clinical services to patients in accordance with program policy.
Maintain clinical credentials, including state licensure and national practice certification.
Required Qualifications
Hold current NCCPA certification.
Hold a master’s degree.
Be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas.
At least two years of clinical experience.
The ability to work collaboratively as an inter-professional team member.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Punctuality, attention to detail, and adherence to due dates.
Proficiency in technology for organization, word processing, electronic health records, and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience.
Doctoral preparation or active pursuit.
Documented scholarly activity.
