The Principal Engineer - Project Management role is listed on behalf of a partner company who manages all applications and next steps. This position offers the opportunity to lead large-scale engineering projects that shape manufacturing capabilities, operational excellence, and future growth.
About the role
You will provide technical leadership and project management expertise across complex capital initiatives, from early planning through execution and startup. The position combines engineering strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on project oversight within a dynamic supply chain environment. You will partner with operations, maintenance, quality, procurement, finance, and external engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Requirements
- Extensive engineering project management experience
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Deep understanding of manufacturing environments
- Technical expertise, business awareness, and influence across multiple functions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Food Processing, Civil, or Electrical)
- 7+ years of experience in engineering project management, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments
- Proven experience managing capital projects, including projects with budgets ranging from $1M-$3M or similar large-scale investments
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process improvement, packaging, utilities, and production systems
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external engineering partners
- Ability to travel approximately 30-50% of the time to support projects across multiple locations
- PMP certification considered a plus
- Experience with equipment specification, installation, and startup activities, particularly for industrial process and utility systems
- Familiarity with finance fundamentals, cost accounting, statistical process control, and productivity improvement initiatives
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, CAD software, MS Project, and project tracking platforms
- Experience in consumer packaged goods, beverage manufacturing, or similar industries is preferred
