Purpose

Worley is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in our Billings, Montana office location to lead electrical engineering delivery across a portfolio of projects. In this role, you will provide advanced electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers, offering technical leadership, oversight, and supervision within the electrical engineering team.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil/gas/chemical projects.
Plan, organize and direct engineering work, ensuring on-time completion, safety-in-design and quality outcomes from conception to completion.
Collaborate with project management, client, and other disciplines to meet project objectives. May lead one or more projects while providing guidance for other lead engineers within the program.
Maintain relationship with project management and client to ensure satisfaction with the quality and progress of the project.
Communicate effectively (written, emails, verbal) with the team and with management, and possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills; motivate, create a positive work environment, and help the team learn, grow, and work together to achieve common goals.
Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
Initiate, manage and, if required, supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
Perform electrical engineering services such as:
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations, and write purchase orders.
- Act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects, if required.
If responsible for a team:
- Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress.
- Ensure the required services meet Worley, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
If required, assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team, other interfacing disciplines, and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

Requirements

Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.
Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of electrical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software (ETAP, SPL).
Development and design of MV, LV electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection, power management system configuration, and interface management.
Perform/review power systems studies and protective device settings.
Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
12+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
Recognized and relevant BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) status in the US.

Qualifications

Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management, or supervisory qualifications or equivalent are preferred.
