About the role

This role will contribute to developing the Economics and Science products and services in the Fee domain, with specialization in supply chain systems and fees. Through the lens of economics, you will develop causal links for how Amazon, Sellers and Customers interact. You will be a key and senior scientist, advising Amazon leaders how to price our services. You will work on developing frameworks and scalable, repeatable models supporting optimal pricing and policy in the two-sided marketplace that is central to Amazon's business.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to developing Economics and Science products and services in the Fee domain, specializing in supply chain systems and fees.
  • Develop causal links between Amazon, Sellers, and Customers interactions through the lens of economics.
  • Advise Amazon leaders on pricing strategies and policies.
  • Work on developing frameworks and scalable models for optimal pricing and policy in the two-sided marketplace.
  • Partner with science and technology teams across Amazon including Advertising, Supply Chain, Operations, Prime, Consumer Pricing, and Finance to integrate economic insights into policy and systems production.
  • Lead the development of causal models to help isolate the impact of fee and policy changes from other business actions, using experiments when possible, or observational data when not.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics, Computer Science, or highly related field (Statistics, Finance, Math)
  • Experience with big data and machine learning or data science
  • Coding ability in a scripting language such as R or Python or STATA
  • Extensive Economics knowledge
  • Demonstrated strength in practical and policy relevant structural econometrics
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Prominent ability to lead highly ambiguous and large projects
  • A drive to deliver results

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years in industry, consulting, government, or academic research
  • Experience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve business-relevant problems
  • Experience in building analytic or scientific data products or solutions
  • Written and verbal communications skills to convey complicated processes and systems to business partners and senior leadership
  • Strong track record in performing high-quality analysis of data at scale
