About the role

The Principal is responsible for ensuring rigorous CTE content and core-academic standards-aligned teaching and learning, while establishing and maintaining a positive culture for students, staff, and families. The Principal manages all aspects of the school-level budgeting process, drives school improvement, and oversees daily school operations. The Principal supervises and evaluates school personnel, provides regular feedback, and offers professional learning opportunities to drive improvement. A key role involves ensuring that students earn career-ready diplomas and credentials aligned with the District's High School Redesign strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides visionary leadership while ensuring a rigorous education for all students and ensuring students reach academic goals, career, and technical requirements.
  • Aligns standards, instructional strategies, assessment, industry credentials, instructional tools/resources, and professional development to ensure CTE instructional program of study delivery.
  • Develops an academic plan based on a continuous improvement model and quantitative data to support teaching and learning, create benchmark growth, and monitor progress toward meeting performance goals.
  • Conducts regular formative and summative staff evaluations to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning and maintain high levels of accountability.
  • Creates and maintains a safe, effective, and clean learning environment.
  • Manages a school budget aligned to the school’s academic plan that reflects District, State, and Federal requirements.
  • Executes a comprehensive professional development program based on teacher instructional practice and student learning needs.
  • Effectively coordinates, supervises, and manages relations with parents/families, the immediate school, and broader business and industry partners/organizations.
  • Acquires and effectively manages resources outside of district-allotted support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree (inclusive of 20 semester hours in School Administration, Supervision, Curriculum, and School Finance).
  • State of Michigan Administrator Certification.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Teacher Certificate for the level being sought.
  • Previous experience as a CTE occupational teacher at the secondary or post-secondary level preferred.
