About the Role
The Fixed Income Principal is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing complex fixed income transactions while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. This role focuses on driving revenue growth through strategic relationship management, leading transaction teams, and delivering innovative financing solutions. Principals are expected to demonstrate deep market expertise, mentor junior professionals, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management & Business Development
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, prospects, and industry partners to expand market share.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging market insights to deliver tailored investment banking solutions.
- Collaborate with Fifth Third affiliate personnel to achieve cross-functional goals and enhance client engagement.
- Transaction Leadership & Advisory Services
- Serve as lead banker on complex transactions, overseeing structuring, pricing, and execution.
- Provide strategic advice on fixed income products, market trends, and financing strategies.
- Develop and deliver high-impact proposals and presentations for senior-level client engagements.
- Revenue Generation & Goal Achievement
- Drive fee income growth through proactive business development and execution of high-value transactions.
- Establish annual objectives with leadership and monitor progress toward performance targets.
- Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of compliance standards for public finance and fixed income activities.
- Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance and coaching to Associates and Analysts, fostering technical development and career growth.
- Share best practices and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 7–10 years of experience in public finance banking, fixed income, or related investment banking roles.
- Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 52, and Series 63 licenses required; Series 53 strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of leading complex transactions and managing client relationships at a senior level.
Skills
- Qualified candidates will bring professional proficiency, generally acquired through 7-10 years of relevant work or internship experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Advanced understanding of fixed income markets, products, and transaction structures.
- Strong business development and client relationship management capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills for senior-level client interactions.
- Ability to lead transaction teams and mentor junior professionals effectively.
