Job Summary
The Principal Architect, Cloud & Application Transformation at Netsmart leads the evolution of our application ecosystem, modernizing legacy platforms, accelerating cloud adoption, and enabling next-generation, AI-driven capabilities. This role combines strategic architecture leadership with hands-on engineering and partners with executive leadership, engineering, and product teams.
About the Role
This is a high-impact, onsite role in Overland Park, KS, requiring expertise in cloud platforms, modernization using microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture, and strong stakeholder communication and influence.
Responsibilities
- Lead cloud and application transformation strategy including App → Cloud initiatives
- Drive modernization using microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, and architecture decisions
- Develop prototypes and reference architecture
- Architect solutions across AWS
- Mentor other engineers and architects
- Champion AI/ML and data-driven engineering approaches
- Partner with executive leadership on technology strategy
- Guide SDLC architecture standards and governance
Requirements
- Experience as Principal or Lead Architect in enterprise environments
- Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
- Experience with .NET, C#, distributed systems
- Track record leading modernization initiatives
- Proven success with application-to-cloud transformations
- Strong stakeholder communication and influence
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Must be on site in Overland Park, KS
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes
- Healthcare or regulated industry experience
- Experience with AI/ML or LLM integration
- Cloud certifications
