About the role

The position of Principal Analyst, CEO within the Chief Executive Office assists the Chief Executive Office to manage the County's administrative, financial affairs, and/or policy priorities under the general direction of a Manager, CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Leads or supervises a section/project(s) in the Chief Executive Office
  • Leads or supervises staff
  • Conducts program and organizational reviews as directed by the Board of Supervisors or upper management
  • Analyzes and/or reviews the most complex requests for medium to large-size departmental budget units
  • Develops and monitors Countywide budgets
  • Participates in the Chief Executive Office’s strategic planning
  • Prepares and reviews a variety of documents
  • Consults other section supervisors/staff, upper management, County departments, and/or external stakeholders
  • Represents the Chief Executive Office and assigned section
  • Analyzes and develops responses to motions by the Board of Supervisors
  • Implements a variety of Board-Directed priorities

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems in areas such as budget, finance, operations, policy implementation, classification, compensation, capital projects, legislative policy, organization and management, employee relations, risk management, marketing, or asset management at the level of Los Angeles County class of Senior Analyst, CEO* or higher.

Special Requirement Information

In the County of Los Angeles, experience at the level of Senior Analyst, CEO is defined as working independently to provide professional staff support to the head of an organization including the planning, coordination, direction, and control of various functions. Note: You may still qualify even if your job title isn’t exactly the same as the ones listed.

Desirable Certifications

  • Professional Human Resources (PHR), issued by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI)
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), issued by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI)
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), issued by the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans (IFEBP)
  • Certified Labor Relations Master (CLRM), formerly Labor Relations Academy Masters Certification , issued by the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association (CALPELRA)

Physical Expectations

Physical Class 2 – Light - This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
