Principal Admitting Worker - ED Registration Irvine - F/T Evenings
Position Summary
Incumbent performs the essential functions of the Emergency Department Registration, which can include: pre-admission, financial counseling, insurance notification, verification and authorization, management of unscheduled admissions in acute care or mental health admissions, NICU transfers and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
- Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of Government and Commercial Insurance Plans
- Experience with registration and/or billings computer software programs
- Experience in a hospital or medical office setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Managed Care plans
- Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process
- Demonstrated ability to utilize payer and government websites to access and interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinations
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Requirements
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Experience with computer software programs such as Quest, Invision and EPIC
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Ability to ensure proper billing or financial procedures for patients
