Primary Press Operator

Responsibilities

• Installs specified large heavy tooling
• Makes adjustments to presses and material feeding equipment
• Operates presses, feeds material, removes work and scrap, loads and unloads material, hoists and cranes
• Returns tools to storage
• Inspects first piece to lead copy using fixed and variable gauges
• Inspects own work using micrometer and fixed gauges
• Affixes minor repairs to press, including replacement of springs, nuts and bolts
• Lubricates and cleans press as directed
• Sets up and operates shear
• Sets up and operates large hand-fed press and flattener
• Reports problems to supervisor
