Overview

The Registered Nurse will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. Responsible for performing competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. Possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by clinical area(s). Exhibits sound knowledge and understanding of routine nursing procedures and RN and LPN scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Additional Life Support requirements based on clinical area:
    • Critical Care/Intermediate Care Unit: Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
    • Emergency Care: ACLS & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
    • Oncology Care: Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire
    • Women's Care (Perinatal departments): Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP) within 6 months of hire
    • Inpatient Pediatrics: PALS within 90 days of hire
