Primary Care Physician with a Focus in Women’s Health - Bend, OR

High Lakes Health Care, part of Praxis Health, is seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician (MD/DO) to build a full-spectrum primary care practice with a focus on women’s health. This is a primary care position—not a gynecology role—where the physician will serve as a primary care provider first, managing a traditional primary care panel while also addressing women’s health needs across different life stages.

About the Role

The physician will develop and manage a full-spectrum primary care panel, with the opportunity to specialize in women’s health as part of their practice. This includes providing evidence-based care for perimenopause, menopause, contraceptive counseling, preventive screenings, and other women’s health concerns routinely managed in primary care. The scope of practice can be tailored to the physician’s training and clinical interests, while maintaining a broad primary care focus.

This position offers a strong partnership with High Lakes Gynecology, allowing for consultation and referral when patients require specialty gynecologic or surgical care. The goal is to provide women with a primary care physician who is knowledgeable about their overall health and the unique concerns that arise throughout adulthood.

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive care, annual wellness visits, and age-appropriate screenings
• Evaluate and treat acute illness and injury
• Diagnose and manage chronic medical conditions
• Perform medication management
• Deliver behavioral and mental health care within the primary care setting
• Offer health counseling, risk-factor modification, and preventive medicine
• Coordinate care with specialists and other members of the patient’s care team
• Provide care across the lifespan consistent with Family Medicine or Internal Medicine training
• Deliver women’s health services, including:
  • Perimenopause and menopause evaluation and management
  • Evidence-based discussion and management of menopausal hormone therapy
  • Contraceptive counseling and management
  • Management of menstrual and other common women’s health concerns
  • Preventive women’s health and recommended screenings
  • Sexual and reproductive health counseling

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Completion of an accredited Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residency
• Eligible for an unrestricted Oregon medical license
• Strong foundation in comprehensive outpatient primary care
• Experience, additional training, or demonstrated clinical interest in women’s health
• Particular interest in the care of women during perimenopause and menopause
• Comfort providing evidence-based menopause management, including hormone therapy when appropriate
• Commitment to maintaining a broad primary care practice rather than a women’s-health-only panel

Additional training or focused clinical experience in women’s health, menopause medicine, or a women’s health-focused primary care program is welcomed but not required.

General Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Work environment includes a combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. This position involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, and all employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
