About the role

The Physician Assistant is responsible to provide healthcare services to patients in both the clinic and in surgery, under direction and responsibility of physician(s).

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the clinic by tasks such as rooming and preparing patients, ordering x-rays, compiling patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations.
  • Support surgeons in the operating room by tasks such as pre-surgery planning, positioning patients in the OR, checking for proper instruments, assisting in surgical procedures, closing wounds, and removing patients.
  • Perform procedures like suturing and wound care.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, document progress, and assist in providing care.
  • Conduct consultations with patients via phone or in-person.
  • Round and take call, as needed by supervising physician.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Occasionally participate in community outreach events.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • NCCPA certification.
  • Minnesota Board of Medical Practice registration/license.
  • DEA registration.

Qualifications

  • Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, practices, and business ethics guidelines.
  • Complete job required training.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.).
  • Prompt and reliable attendance.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate and interact respectfully and professionally.
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system effectively.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations.

Skills

  • Physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents.
  • Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer).

Benefits & Compensation

Actual starting pay will vary based on education, skills, and experience. The pay range displayed reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
