Duties

  • Functions primarily as a Women's Health provider in a Women's Health clinic setting.
  • Provides primary care to patients at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, managing both scheduled and unscheduled outpatient visits.
  • Integral member of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), coordinating care with nursing, clerical, pharmacy, social work, dietetics, and more.
  • Participation in daily team huddles and systems redesign projects is required.
  • May manage a patient panel per the Primary Care Management Model (PCMM) guidelines, with panel size determined by PCP FTE, support staff, and room availability, specific to each provider.
  • Responsible for supervising or collaborating with licensed independent practitioners (e.g., APRN, PA).
  • Expected to provide clinical oversight and participate in peer reviews through periodic chart reviews, as mandated by Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Act as a surrogate for absent Primary Care Providers, including the review of CPRS view alerts.
  • Regularly attend primary care staff, departmental, and medical staff meetings.
  • Ensure timely documentation of notes and encounter forms per facility policy and complete administrative work promptly.

Requirements

  • Must meet specific individual eligibility requirements for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) in accordance with VHA policy and submit an application within four months of appointment.
  • The Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP - a student loan payment reimbursement program.
  • Approval - award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
  • Former participants are ineligible to apply for the EDRP incentive.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Nursing (DNP) or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Nebraska.
  • Completion of a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in a Veterans Health Administration (VHA) setting preferred.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm - no weekends.
