Physician Assistant - Primary Care
About the role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive care for Veterans for a panel size of approximately 900 patients or same-day access
- Performs initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients
- Provides ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients
- Screens outpatients to determine the need for further care
- Prescribes medications within the defined scope of practice
- Orders diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and electrocardiograms
- Reviews need for and orders health promotion and disease prevention measures
- Initiates, responds to and expedites request for consultations, special tests, and studies
- Provides education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs
- Serves as a preceptor for PA residents and students as requested
- Works Schedule: Full time, Monday- Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
