Primary Care Family Medicine Academic Physician

About the role

Nuvance Health Medical Practice is seeking a board‑certified Family Medicine Physician to join an academic practice in Kingston, NY, affiliated with Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. The physician will work with Family Medicine residents in a busy, growing outpatient practice, collaborating with the Program Director to develop and implement continuing medical education. This is a 0.5 FTE part‑time role (20 hours per week) focused on supervising, educating, mentoring, and evaluating residents. Inpatient admissions are handled by a hospitalist program. The new multispecialty center in Kingston houses primary care, OB/GYN, imaging, Rheumatology, and Sports Medicine under one roof. Kingston is located in the Hudson Valley, approximately 90 minutes north of New York City, with access to hiking, biking, dining, and a high quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, educate, mentor, and evaluate Family Medicine residents in an outpatient setting
• Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement continuing medical education
• Deliver comprehensive, team‑based care for a diverse adult patient panel
• Manage acute and chronic conditions while promoting wellness
• Partner with multidisciplinary staff including nurse triage and inbox management support
• Utilize system‑wide integrated EHR with AI scribing tools for documentation

Requirements

• MD or DO with New York State medical license
• Federal DEA registration
• Successful completion of Family Medicine residency
• Board Certified in Family Medicine

Schedule

• 0.5 FTE part‑time (20 hours per week)
• Fully outpatient setting
• Off‑hour coverage shared among multiple providers — phone calls only, supported by nurse triage
• Light call schedule
• Active inbox management to support work‑life balance

Pay

Salary range: $137,500 – $142,500
