About the Role
Prices and cleans furniture items to achieve maximum value. Maintains and merchandises furniture, mattresses, and appliances on the sales floor.
Responsibilities
- Sets department production targets weekly with assistant manager and is accountable for reaching those targets.
- Maintains target price per item using the price grid as a guideline.
- Supplies store with merchandise by testing (appliances), pricing items, and displaying donations on the sales floor.
- Keeps the furniture area clean and stocked, including daily cleaning of dust, broken items, non-saleable, and damaged goods.
- Provides customers purchasing furniture with a written receipt for the cashier.
- Assists customers with mattress inquiries.
- Accepts donations and provides donors with a receipt for tax purposes.
- Keeps work area clean, including sweeping and cleaning up 10 minutes before quitting time.
- Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including tasks outside the primary area of employment.

- Ability to recognize merchandise quality and price it competitively.
- Ability to make decisions about merchandise quality, saleability, and price reductions.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers.
- Ability to write receipts.
- Ability to observe the production process and communicate with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to present a positive company image and be courteous to customers.
- Ability to work as a productive team member.
Education and/or Experience
- Experience working with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.
- Ability to use good judgment.
- Energy to take on fast-paced work.
- Good listening skills.
Physical Demands
- Works inside in a production and retail environment with exposure to temperature fluctuations.
- Regularly required to speak, hear, stand, and move throughout the store.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 75 pounds using proper equipment.
- May occasionally be exposed to dust from donations.
- Constantly standing, bending, stooping, and walking.
- Must be able to lift arms shoulder height or above.
