About the Role
Prices assigned departmental merchandise to maximize value. Maintains merchandise on the sales floor and ensures an adequate supply of seasonal merchandise by sorting out-of-season items. Reports directly to the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Achieves assigned department’s sales targets by:
- Reviewing department sales targets weekly with the store manager and supervisor
- Maintaining target price per item
- Using the price grid as a guideline in departments
- Supplies the store with merchandise by sorting, hanging, and pricing donations for assigned departments
- Displays merchandise in designated areas on the sales floor
- Ensures a sufficient quantity of merchandise is available daily in assigned departments according to performance standards
- Maintains a clean and stocked production department
- Adjusts merchandise prices up or down to achieve maximum value when items are not selling or are selling too quickly
- Keeps the sales floor shoppable by ragging, balancing, and rotating seasonal merchandise
- Ensures an adequate supply of seasonal merchandise by recognizing, storing, and labeling it properly
- Assists with customer service
- Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including tasks outside the primary area of employment
Requirements
- Knowledge of styles and trends
- Ability to identify merchandise quality and price it competitively
- Ability to assess merchandise required for assigned departments
- Ability to work as a productive team member
- Experience working with a diverse workforce
- Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good listener
- Energy to handle fast-paced work
- Good judgment
Physical Demands
- Works inside in a production and retail environment
- Regularly required to speak, hear, stand, and move throughout the store
- Frequently uses upper body strength to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- May occasionally be exposed to dust from donations
- Constantly standing, bending, stooping, and occasionally walking
- Must be able to lift arms to shoulder height or above
- Must be able to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds
