Preventive Non-Licensed Supervisor
The Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) Supervisor supports staff in implementing the BSFT model with families who have children aged 6 to 17 presenting with behavioral problems such as school truancy, substance use, conduct problems, and delinquency. The Preventive Services Department provides child welfare services using Evidence-Based models to ensure safe home environments, reduce foster care needs, and support family wellbeing. All services are delivered in the family’s home and community.
About the Role
The Social Worker Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing clinical guidance of clinical and case planner staff, providing training and supervision. The Supervisor may perform line functions typically handled by a social worker or case planner and must be proficient in these areas. Familiarity with Preventive Service and Child Welfare Standards is essential, serving as an internal resource on such matters.
Responsibilities
- Provides regularly scheduled weekly supervision to all clinical and case planning staff members.
- Evaluates and approves service plans (FASPs) based on safety, risk concerns, and family needs.
- Facilitates weekly clinical case conferences and Family Team Conferences.
- Completes job performance evaluations and provides professional development support.
- May supervise student interns.
- Handles intake for new referrals.
- Provides feedback to program stakeholders, including ACS Child Protection.
- Understands and utilizes ACS/OCFS electronic systems, including PROMIS and CNNX.
- Completes required documentation, such as progress notes and supervisory notes, in CNNX and case records.
- Adheres to the fidelity of the BSFT model, including treatment length, case contacts, interventions, supervision, and documentation.
- Collaborates with child welfare and follows ACS guidelines for preventive services, focusing on safety and risk.
- Participates in all BSFT model training, supervision, and consultation activities.
- Works a hybrid schedule based on program needs.
- Conducts group supervision and commits to professional development goals for model adherence.
- Works a flexible schedule to meet family needs.
- Conducts outreach to generate program referrals.
- Collaborates with a team to meet client, program, and division needs.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned and covers for the Director in their absence.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of related experience in Child Welfare and/or Family Therapy.
- Specialized experience with specific client populations (e.g., domestic violence, substance abuse, community outreach) is preferred.
- Bilingual and bicultural skills are preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office required; experience with the Connections system is preferred.

Work Environment
The role requires travel within New York City while carrying equipment such as a notebook, forms, laptop, mobile hotspot, and cell phone (up to approximately 10 pounds). Risks may include interfacing with clients experiencing acute mental health crises or serious emotional disturbances. The position is currently hybrid but may transition to 100% in-person based on program needs.
