Preventive Maintenance Technician
About the Role
This position performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC, and building systems across the Fort Worth region, including Roanoke, Saginaw, Haslet, Wichita Falls, Lawton, Burkburnett, Altus, Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Graham, Benbrook, Willow Park, Stephenville, Granbury, Glen Rose, Decatur, Denton, Hickory Creek, Ardmore, Gainesville, Bridgeport, Lake Worth, Azle, and Westworth.
You’ll support an average of 40-45 restaurants, working approximately 42 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, beverage stations, and facility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Complete routine maintenance tasks, service calls, and cosmetic repairs to maintain brand standards and support daily operations.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and inspections to identify potential issues early; escalate complex or major repairs to MSC Technicians as needed.
- Execute and manage assigned maintenance work orders accurately and on time using mobile technology and work order systems.
- Respond to restaurant maintenance needs and service requests to minimize equipment downtime and operational disruptions.
- Maintain parts inventory, tools, and a clean, organized work environment, including a company vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with Restaurant and MSC Leadership to ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.
- Perform maintenance tasks across electrical, plumbing, and general facility systems within defined scope.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (or equivalent work experience).
- Ability to work full-time hours and travel locally and long distances, including air travel, to worksites and other locations.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen and facility equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Whataburger MVR standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely work on ladders and rooftops.
Preferred Qualifications
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Universal Certification.
Pay
- Base compensation: $26/hour, paid weekly.
- Bonus Program with payout potential scaling up to 2.5X based on company results.

Schedule
Full-time role, averaging 42 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Frequent travel required within the assigned market or region, including day trips, overnight travel, and extended market visits. Some out-of-market support may be required based on business needs. Candidates must reside within the region they support.
